Eligibility
The scholarships are awarded on academic merit and are open to recent graduates, undergraduates completing their course before September 2013. those currently completing professional legal qualifications, non-law graduates in disciplines related to the programme. Grant

DBT-Research Associateship 2013 notification

DBT-Research Associateship 2013 in Biotechnology & Life Sciences

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of “DBT-Research Associateship” for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology. The Associateship is tenable in Research Institution/Universities including non-profit R&D Institutions within India. The Associateships are awarded under a program sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
DBT-Research Associateship 2013 Eligibility
The applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science, Engineering or M.D. or M.S. degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record. The Associateship can be availed within 3 years of the award of PhD/M.D/ M.S. degree; however, may be relaxable in case of women (by 2 years) and in-service candidates. Those who have already submitted the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. thesis are also eligible to apply. The applicants should preferably be below the age of 40 years and 45 years in case of women and in-service candidates. Persons already employed arc also eligible to apply. However, their applications should be routed through their employers.
DBT-Research Associateship 2013 Grants
The Research Associateship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the Associateship may be extended upto 5 years. Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend in the range of Rs.22,000-24,000 per month and a research contingency grant of Rs.50,000 per year, payable to the host Institution. Candidates who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. degree, if selected, will be paid Rs. 18,000 per month till the award of the degree. The associate would also be entitled to HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines applicable to Research Associateship. The Associatcships normally arc not availed at the same Institution where candidates have earned their Ph.D./M.D./M.S. degree. Candidates who are already in regular employment can avail the Associateship during the period of his / her sabbatical / study leave, in a different Institute/University.
DBT-Research Associateship 2013 Selection process
The candidates will be selected based on their C.V. and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in May 2013 and candidates called for interview will be paid II class railway (non-AC)/bus fare by the shortest route from their home town. If the candidate accepts the Associateship, he/she must join the host Institution/University within a month’s time.
DBT-Research Associateship 2013 application form
Candidates may submit their application on plain paper alongwith bio-data, list of publications (attach reprints of 2 important papers), copies of certificates (B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D./M.D./M.S.), One page synopsis of Ph.D./M.D./M.S. thesis, 2 letters of recommendation (academic). The applicant is advised to propose his/her place of work, name of the supervisor, enclose one page synopsis of proposed research which must be compatible with the on-going research of the proposed supervisor, and his/her consent for availing the Associateship. They should also enclose a declaration stating that if selected for the Associateship, he/she will complete the tenure of the Associateship. However, they may be allowed to relinquish the Associateship only if accepting permanent employment in India. Those who had applied previously need not apply.

Debesh- Kamal Scholarship 2013 notification


Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata, invites applications for Debesh-Kamal Scholarship 2013 for Higher Studies Abroad, preferably, in the areas of humanities and the basic sciences, but candidates in other disciplines, such as social sciences and applied science and technology, will also be considered.
Eligibility:
Students who have obtained 1st class in Honours or Master’s degree from an Indian University/College and have obtained a letter confirming admission in a subject into a foreign university are eligible.
They should not ordinarily be more than 30 years of age. Exceptions may be made for short-term post-graduate or post-doctoral researchers.
Value and Tenure of the Scholarship
i) The value of a scholarship will be around Rs. 1.00 lakh for one year only. Since this amount will not be adequate for studies abroad, candidates will have to produce acceptable evidence of other resources or committed financial support.
ii) Debesh-Kamal Scholarship will be tenable for one year only.
Time:
The process of selection for this scholarship starts from the 3rd week of February and completed by June every year.
Selection:
A panel of experts interviews the candidates on scheduled dates by middle of June and candidates found eligible are selected for awarding the scholarship.

Depending on the U.S. host institution, it is likely that the grantee may contribute towards developing curriculum and conducting workshops and seminars. These fellowships are for four to nine months.

The recipient will be affiliated as a visiting scholar at a U.S. institution, and will teach courses (individually or team-teach) for either a semester or an academic year.
Research and Teaching
Applicants will carry out a combination of teaching and research activities at the U.S. host institution. Please specify the percentage of the grant for each activity and define this in your project statement. For instance, if you plan to spend 60% of your grant duration for research and 40% for teaching, your project statement should demonstrate this allocation. Teaching could include courses (individually or team-taught) or a series of seminars at the U.S. institution.

DBT JRF 2013 notification

 DBT- Junior Research Fellowship 2013 in Biotechnology/ Applied Biology

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of “DBT-Junior Research Fellowship” (DBT-JRF) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and Applied Biology. JRFs will be selected according to merit under two categories: Category A and B. Category A fellowship (Top 100 in number) are tenable in any University / Institute in India where the students can register for Ph.D. Category B fellowships (175 in number) are tenable exclusively at the 71 DBT-Supported Teaching University / Institute running DBT-supported Masters programme, and 14 DBT Institutes, where the students can register for Ph.D.
 Eligibility for DBT JRF 2013
Students who have passed after Jan.1, 2012 or will appear (till August, 2013) for Masters in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (M.Sc. / M.Tech. / M.V.Sc), Molecular Human Genetics offered at BHU and Jiwaji University and Neuroscience offered at Jiwaji University, NBRC and TIFR, and B.Tech. Biotechnology (4-year course) recognized by UGC / AICTE are eligible for this award.
The applicants should be below the age of 28 years for Open category and 33 years in case of SC / ST / PH and women candidates as of 28′” February 2013. Candidates with 60% (55% for SC/ST/PH) of the total marks (equivalent in grade) are eligible.
Details of the Award
The fellowship will be initially for a period of 3 years extendable for 2 more years based on performance. By the end of 2nd year the performance of JRF will be assessed and will be upgraded to SRF. The fellowship for JRF / SRF will be @ Rs. 16,000/- / 18,000/- per month + HRA as per host Institute norms, and a research contingency of Rs. 30,000/- per year.
Selection for DBT JRF 2013
The candidates will be selected based on a single session online admission test “Biotechnology Eligibility Test” (BET) to be conducted on 21st April, 2013 at 10 AM in the following twelve cities:
New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati. Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram & Ahmedabad.
Candidates, only belonging to SC / ST / Physically challenged, called for BET examination will be paid II class railway (non-AC) / bus fare by the shortest route from their home town, on production of supportive documents of competent authority.
