What is IIT JAM ?

Joint admission test for M.Sc (JAM 2013)

For admission to M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D dual degree and other post-B.Sc programmes at IITs

Indian Institutes of Technology conducts a Joint Admission test to M.Sc. (JAM) for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes at the IITs. The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes based on the performance in a single test and consolidate 'Science' as a career option for bright students from across the country. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalising undergraduate level science education in the country.
The M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes at the IITs offer high quality post-B.Sc. education in respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world. The curricula for these programmes are designed to provide the students opportunities to develop academic talent leading to challenging and rewarding professional life. The curricula are regularly updated at each IIT. Interdisciplinary content of the curricula equips the students to utilize scientific knowledge for practical applications. The medium of instruction in all the programmes is English.

Commencement of online registration: 20th September, 2012, Thursday
Last date for issue of OMR application forms and information brochures at Canara Bank counters: 20th October, 2012, Saturday
Last date for online registration on the website/website closure: 23rd October, 2012, Tuesday, 1800 hours
Last date for receipt of completed OMR application form along with pay-in-slip and demand draft (if any) at IIT Delhi: 30th October, 2012, Tuesday
Last date for receipt of completed online registration form along with demand draft at IIT Delhi: 30th October, 2012, Tuesday
Date of JAM-2013 test: 10th February, 2013, Sunday
Announcement of the results of JAM-2013: 10th April, 2012, Wednesday, 1700 hours
Issue of application forms for admission by JAM office of IIT Delhi/downloading from the website of IIT Delhi starts: 12th-19th April, 2013
Last date for receipt of completed application forms for admission along with demand draft of Rs 300/- at IIT Delhi: 30th April, 2013, Tuesday
Declaration of first admission list: 31st May, 2013, Friday
Declaration of second admission list: 24th June, 2013, Monday

How to apply for IIT JAM 2013 ?

Application Fee: Fee for application form from banks/IITD JAM office; male Rs 1200/-; no fee for female; SC/ST/PD Rs 600/-
Fee for online registration; male Rs 1100/-; no fee for female; SC/ST/PD Rs 500/-
Application fee for 2nd test paper; male Rs 300/-; female Rs 300/-; SC/ST/PD Rs 150/-
How to apply: Candidates can submit application form in two different modes online and offline
The preferred mode of application process is online
Off-line Application: Candidate can obtain a packet containing offline application form information brochure envelope from designated bank branches of Canara bank on cash payment; or from GATE-JAM Office, IIT Delhi after handing over demand draft for appropriate amount
Obtain SC/ST/PD certificate (if applicable), OBC candidates need not send any certificate with the application form (it will be required only at the time of applying for admission)
Fill in the application form
Candidates must follow the instructions provided in JAM-2013 information brochure
Paste your recent photograph (3 cm x 4 cm) in the designated place of OMR sheet
Sign at the designated places of OMR sheet
Write the test city first choice code, paper code and your address on the envelope
Online Application: Payment option
Payment through demand draft only
Demand draft of appropriate amount should be drawn in favour of Chairman JAM, IIT Delhi, on any bank, payable at New Delhi
